Arden Hall in Castle Bromwich came alive on Saturday, 22 August, for an afternoon and evening of fun, fellowship and fundraising, as members, families and friends gathered for a memorable UAAUK Charity (ACT) event.

From 4 pm until 11 pm, guests ranging in age from 8 to 80 enjoyed seven lively hours of games, music, food, laughter and companionship. It was an occasion for old friends to reconnect, new friendships to be made, and generations to enjoy themselves together.

The afternoon began with enthusiastic rounds of Tombola and Mystery Prize, quickly creating a buzz of anticipation around the hall.

The undisputed star attraction was Hit the Whiskey Bottle, which brought out plenty of competitive spirit. Repeated attempts, encouraging cheers from the sidelines, and some spectacular near-misses produced many of the day’s biggest laughs.

With activities in full swing, tea and tasty snacks kept everyone refreshed, while a cheerful ukulele band provided a lively musical backdrop for much of the afternoon.

Dinner brought everyone together for a delicious Indian feast, with conversation flowing among familiar faces and newcomers alike. An unexpected fire alarm briefly added a little unscheduled excitement to the evening — fortunately without dampening anyone’s spirits.

Then came the raffle, accompanied by frantic ticket-checking and delighted cries of “I’ve got it!” This was followed by Irish Bingo, which proved as unpredictable as it was entertaining and generated another round of laughter around the hall.

As evening settled in, the disco took over, and the dance floor began to fill. After several hours of activity, there was still no shortage of energy, with people across the generations joining in and enjoying the music.

By 11 pm, after seven hours of games, prizes, music, food, dancing and laughter, a thoroughly enjoyable gathering finally drew to a close.

Yet behind all the fun was an important purpose.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiastic participation of everyone who attended, the event raised around £2,000 for charity. The proceeds will help provide a Christmas meal for senior citizens through Age UK, while also supporting Ankur School in Guwahati.

That charitable purpose added significance to an already joyful occasion. People came together not simply to enjoy themselves, but also to help others — turning an afternoon of entertainment into something genuinely worthwhile.

Warm, welcoming and inclusive, the event captured the very best of community life: friendship across generations, shared enjoyment and generosity in support of a good cause.

Great fun, great company and a great cause — truly an event to remember.

The evening will include a talented ukulele group, live music, fun and games, a delicious Indian buffet served at 7.30 pm, and a pay bar. Children under 10 can attend free, including a free McDonald’s Happy Meal.

Suggested donation: £20 per adult, £100 for a group of six adults, and £5 for children over 10.

This year, the event will support Ankur School in Assam, India, run by Yuva Nivas Sanstha, and Age UK, which supports senior citizens at Arden Hall, Castle Bromwich.

Deepsikha is an excellent humanitarian trust based in Guwahati, established under the Indian Trusts Act. Mrinmoyee is practically in charge of the organisation, which cares for cancer sufferers from childhood to the elderly, where these patients cannot get help and support from elsewhere. Full accommodation, food and transport to various health organisations are provided. Deepsikha is very proud in its ethos and is run with voluntary donations from well-wishers.

It was indeed a tremendous pleasure that, on 27th November, UAAUK Charitable Trust, with the help of Prag Foundation, Guwahati, donated a cheque for £ 2000 to replace the broken motor of the mobile breast Screening and Cervical smear Unit. With our donation. the mobile van was up and running on the day of our donation, since this amount was pledged before 27th November/2025. The charity fundraising event was held at Arden Hall, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham on 9th August 2025. Dr Nripen Borkataki, one of our Trustees, has been involved with Deepsikha for many years, and it was indeed our pleasure to support and raise funds for this worthy cause.

07 March 2026: Yet another Table Top Sale for the Charity. The team had a fabulous time meeting people. An elderly lady, 85+, purchased some small soft toys as she has been filling Christmas shoeboxes for more than 40 years. What an amazing lady!

06 March 2026: Seb Briand has launched a heartfelt fundraising appeal in support of the UAUK Charitable Trust, inspired by his personal journey and commitment to giving back to the community.
